Blue

I've been drooling over a Cecilie Copenhagen piece for a long time now. I just never took the plunge until now. I finally had it in my impatient little hands and could not wait to wear it. I didn't anticipate wearing the shorts as it's in the middle of winter here in Australia and let's face it, I really FEEL the cold.

However the sun was out in all it's glory. I thought I would just brave it considering I was on my way out to lunch and would be inside majority of the day. I was fine for the most part until I got home... but let's not talk about my non-existent immune system.

I love that the pieces can be worn together, much to my boyfriends amusement, calling me matchy matchy all day. He even came up with a little song - don't ask! All the pieces are one size fits all, which scared me as I'm not exactly normal, proportion wise. I really love the way it fits though, it's not restrictive around the arm or upper back area where you would normally feel it if the size was ill-fitting. Just to give you an idea, i'm normally a true to size Australian 8 for tops. The bottoms are elasticated and are a perfect fit, not too snug or too loose, I'm also a true to size AUS 8 for bottoms. I'm badly eyeing the dress style in black and white but as I've only seen it in on models or people who are clearly taller than me, I'd really rather see it in person and try it on first before puchasing. I don't want it to look like a maxi dress!

I purchased these pieces on Parlour X, the top came to me with a huge pull running down the top. I emailed them about it and was told that it was part of the characteristics of the material and they could not do anything for me. I then went to explain that I could not locate these "characteristics" on any other parts of the top or the shorts. They offered an exchange in the end, but I didn't want to bother. It's just a little disappointing having to try and fix something that you just received and be told that damages to a garment is part of the look, when you clearly know it isn't.

Go to Browns Fashion or directly to Cecilie Copenhagen. I found Browns to be the most cheapest out of all the website that stock these and that's always a bonus.

Holidays

Happy Holidays!

I hope you've had a festive time filled with love, laughs and copious amounts of food! I think at this point in my life I get more excited about all the amazing food rather than the presents under the tree (not that I'd ever say no presents!), I mean apart from spending time with family of course.

Today we decided to take it easy considering there was really no where we needed to be unlike the past few days. I was tossing up between braving the sales along with the traffic or doing nothing at all, neither happened. Instead we took a short walk around the Botanic Gardens. Even though it wasn't a particularly sunny day, it was beautiful, tranquil and cool at least. I was hoping to spend a lot of time at the beach during my time off but the weather has proved to be quite moody and bi-polar and holiday traffic seems to happen at spots you'd never imagine, so we tried avoiding all that hassle.

So when did I start embracing dresses? I find it perplexing that we go through phases in life. I know it's what happens, but I seem to think existentially a lot, it's just the way my head operates. I have this severe obsession with white little-house-on-the-prairie dresses at the moment. I love the lace and crochet detailing, plus it's such a timeless and easy piece to wear.

See you all in 2015 and stay safe during the holidays!

Crochet & Pearls

For the past 6 months or so, after seeing photos of everyone on the other side of the world be in summer gear, I have been steadily collecting a lot of white, crocheted or lace pieces. I've mentioned it before, my kind of summer is going to be very white and a little boho. I have never been the type to plan ahead what I'm going to be into for the coming season so this is a little surprising to me, nor have I been so committed to still like a certain style after so long. But I have been slowly accumulating pieces that are not too trendy, yes they have been all white and have some sort of lace or crochet detail to them, but I can certainly still see wearing them for a few years.

I also have to admit that Pearls have taken me aback a bit. It was something I was never drawn to wearing, though I have always admired it. I guess Pearls to me scream out elegance and poise and the first thought that pops into my head are Audrey Hepburn and Stepford Wives with their pearl necklaces and matching pearl studs. Not that there is anything wrong with those looks, I can certainly appreciate different styles, but let's face it, that is just not me. But some amazing jewellery designers out there have incorporated it into contemporary pieces I can see myself wearing. For example these Sarina Suriano Pearl pieces from her Omnis Collection can be worn casually or when you need to be dolled up. Accessories to me need to have that versatility to endure longevity in my wardrobe and let's face it, Pearls will NEVER go out style.

Enjoy your weekend!
