Gray Spring Day

Having an odd cold Spring day today. As much as I don't really like the rain, we desperately need it.

Running some errands and wanted to wear something transitional. Well okay, leather jacket and denim shorts are kind of the extreme opposite ends of the spectrum, but it works for this wacky weather of late.

Also re-acquainting my love for the Isabel Marant Bayley. I hadn't touched them in a while and was contemplating selling them. But when it came down to it, I just couldn't let them go. I love that they can become the pop of colour in an otherwise dark outfit. I was initially apprehensive about the colour incase they wouldn't go with anything but black, but I've worn them with army green and I thought they looked fine.

Also wanted to show off the first Spring bloom from my backyard. I came home yesterday and noticed this massive bulbous white flower and upon closer inspection, there are a lot of buds, practically in each stem waiting to blossom. Bees we're abuzz it today and just wanted to share it.

Happy Melbourne Cup day too! Gamble responsibly!

Bright & Casual

Spring is meant to be a little warmer than say, Winter or Autumn. However Spring has started off to be a scorcher. Where else can you have 32 degrees Celsius Spring days?  I was hoping to sport some trans-seasonal gear but it looks like we're diving straight into Summer, and summer calls for loose fitting crop tops, yes this is as cropped as I'll ever go. Though I bought this top about 3-4 sizes too big as I wanted it to be a little longer, plus I wanted the airy-ness it would provide during the dry humid days to come.

I hope you're all having a fun-filled weekend!

Sharks and Giraffes

It's no secret that I love animals and when I see cute animals prints on clothing, it's very hard to resist. So when I stumbled upon these giraffe print shorts for $19.95, it just seemed blasphemous not to get them (a shopaholics reasoning for everything!). Plus who wouldn't love these Luv AJ Shark tooth pieces? They're simple yet they give enough edge to any outfit, which is what I'm always on the lookout for when it comes to accessories.

The shorts are super comfy and light, and with the ridiculous Spring heatwave we've been having, I mean, did Spring ask Summer to fill in for it's seasonal shift? Cos frankly, I find it a bit rude! I already miss the colder months.

Even though I whinge about the summer and how gross and sticky it is, I do love all the cute things you are able to wear during the warmer months. When else can wear your bikini top as undergarment and pretend this is the look you were going for, when in reality, you have just been too lazy to do laundry.

Trucker

Ok I have an unhealthy obsession with extremely distressed denim. The brand One Teaspoon has excited me with their denim since they came out with the extremely low-rise distressed denim skirts with lace/broderie anglais detailing acting as sort of like a petticoat. As an 18yr old back then, it was the one thing I coveted but could never afford. I remember each time my mum took me to our local mall, I'd always asked if we could stop by General Pants just so I could see them and touch them. I never ended up getting one, but the frugal fiend inside me had bought a similar looking denim skirt and went to the local fabric store and attached lace to my denim skirts. It was the closest thing I would have ever come to owning one.

To this day, One Teaspoon is still as amazing as ever and possibly excites me more than it ever did. No one beats their distressed and edgy denim at such affordable price points. With non-chalant fashion trends these days, you can see the most trashed denim get paired with heels for a semi-dressed up look. All I know is that I'm on board!

Any Tom, Dick, Jane and Sarah can get dolled up and put on their best LBD and heels, but what really excites me is when I see someone in an ensemble that makes you re-think how you can wear a specific item in your wardrobe. Alexander Wang put it best when he was quoted saying "Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous, but it is how people dress in their days off that are most intriguing".

I could not agree more!

Exploring

The one thing The Boy and I love to do is explore, his love for maps fuels these adventures. Don't get me wrong, we're not outdoorsy in a way where we rock climb or scale things, no, not that kind of adventures. First of all I have the upper body strength of a 2 year old and not exactly the fittest person, so "exploring" new areas around the city is what we love to do.

A few weeks ago, we did just that. We'd never been around this area of the city before, but we've always seen it along the way when we're on a Ferry. Ferry rides are one of my favourite things to do. Even though I've been on them a few times, the novelty will never wear away, the views are just amazing!

It's now Spring in Sydney and I think it's going to be a beautiful one! It just goes to show you don't need to get on a plane and go to a different country to discover something new.

Enjoy the weekend and explore a place you've never been to.
