If You Can't Beat Them, Join Them

I've been complaining a lot about how summer really needs to just go away now. Im sick of sweating and frizzy hair. So instead of crying about it, why not just enjoy it? It's obviously not something I can control. The week has been pretty good weather wise, apart from the humidity.

This little ensemble is actually a trapeze top and loose shorts, though it looks like a short dress. I don't know how comfortable I would be wearing this had it been a dress. Trapeze type dresses or tops move a lot and they like to blow up in the wind. Trust me, I don't need to flash the public anymore than I already have. My underwear is bought to be worn under clothing, not for show. So when I saw this outfit and found out it was shorts, it was definitely a go-er! Not only that, I picked it up for $10, not each, but for both. How can you honestly go wrong?

I picked it up at one of those, I hate to say this, but a friend of mine refers to it as those cheap and nasty stores. It's a store or space, if you will, that just has metal racks after metal racks. Basically 90% of the things in the store is $10. Some jackets can stretch to $20. But over the years I've found some gems in there and but I cannot for the life of me even remember what the stores are called.

Due to the Easter long weekend, businesses aren't allowed to trade on Good Fridays and Easter Sundays. For some reason, this sets the public into panic mode. So the Saturday between those days when the shops are allowed to open, it's like a cue for people to go on a mad rush and stock up on anything and everything like they're stocking up for a nuclear war.

I'd run out of cat food and there's really no way around that. I can't give the cats human food as I don't know if a) they'll even eat it or like it or b) if it's even good for them. I was already hyperventilating at the thought of braving the shops. As soon as I got there, I got lucky with parking, a guy had just left and I took over and as I was leaving and pushing my trolley of shopping to the car (I didn't end up just buying cat food), someone was already stalking me from behind for a parking spot.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe everyone was there as they all ran out of cat food and just decided to pick up other stuff along the way.

Minty

Minty

I am on a serious shopping ban. It physically hurts right now and the only thing keeping me slightly sane is Polyvore. Polyvore lets you create outfits without a budget. Imagine not having a budget? I'd never sleep!

I find that curating outfits sort of calms the inner shopping demons. I love that the outfits can be outlandish and avant garde, though probably given the chance, I'd wear them all to the tee!

Summer just doesn't seem to want to leave. Take a hint Summer, you've have your 3 months of fame, now let Autumn blossom already!

Peter Pilotto - Making A-Crazy-Print-&-Technicolour-Kinda-Gal's Dream Come True

Peter Pilotto - Making A-Crazy-Print-&-Technicolour-Kinda-Gal's Dream Come True

Peter Pilotto and his amazing technicolour dream prints can do no wrong. Especially for the rest of the world who just welcomed Spring!

These are just some of my favourite pieces.

I know I've sworn that I'm not a fussy dresser kind of girl and have always relied on accesories to give oomph to an outfit, but these pieces are making me re-think that. These are pieces of clothing you do not want to clutter with accesories. Some fine simple jewellery will do, to make these masterpieces speak for themselves. That's if they don't assault (in the nicest way possible) your sense of vision first.

Now I'm off to check my lottery ticket to see if I've won a handsome price. I need at least 5 of these pieces in my closet A.S.A.P!

Denim & Espadrilles

As Australia is transitioning into Autumn, it's very hard to know what to wear. Is it going to be to cold or still humid? Well today was extremely humid. I am very OVER this weather and just want it to go away. I've already started transferring all my colder months gear into my wardrobe. I just need for the weather to catch up to me.

Today I needed to run some errands and thought I'd try this double denim phenomena. The first time I saw this trend come out of it's coma was about 5-6 years ago and it was a photo of Ashley Olsen in a light chambray shirt and a darker blue denim jeans. I had to do a double take and thought how well she pulled that off. Back then, when someone mentioned double denim, I thought of cowboys on horsebacks. Not that there's anything wrong with that, if you were a cowboy.

For a long time denim was used by coal miners, but they were actually worn in the 1500's by Navy sailors.
It wasn't until the 1960's that jeans became acceptable to wear, before that they were worn as a protest against conformity and anyone who wore them often got refused entry into cinemas and restaurants. There's a little history tid-bit for you. I love denim, in moderation!

Spring Into Action!

Spring Into Action

I have always had a massive style crush on the blogger Julie Sarinana of Sincereleyjules.com. She always manages to look fresh and immaculately put together, not to mention she loves her punchy colours! Someone who incorporates colours into their wardrobe, the brighter the better, is a win in my books!

She recently collaborated with Meredith Wendell to create this gorgeous bag. I have been on the market for a small cross body that stands out. What's really grabbed me is the amazing colour palette of this bag. It has just enough colours to create interest if you're wearing a neutral or all black outfit, yet it's neutral enough even for a retina burning techni-colour dreamcoat, what's not to love?

The above Polyvore Collage is my entry to her contest, which you can find more info here --> SincerelyJules Saucy Pan Contest. I have always wanted to try out Polyvore and surprised at how easy it was to use, considering this is my first time, the collage isn't that bad, if I say so myself.

My toes, eyes and fingers are crossed I get picked. Mumma needs a new bag (ok, maybe NEED isn't the word, DESPERATE for a new bag!)
