The Long and Short Of It

I'm pretty sure I will be living in these One Teaspoon shorts during the warmer months. I love the cut, it's baggy and airy (a must for Australian summers), the colour is pretty amazing and the ridiculous distressing, not to mention the length. I'm actually loving this length, plus it can easily be cuffed for a shorter look. I love a versatile piece!

I've been having issues with Blogger lately, since they changed the look, the photos I've been trying to upload seems to change to how I see it in my Picture Manager. I had initially thought it was my camera settings and the fact that I am using a newer lense, until the boy told me it could be Blogger itself. I then googled to see if anyone else was having issues, turns out it is Blogger. The newer version had automatically set everyone's settings to Auto Enhance the pictures and it just created a lot of noise. So happy I know what's wrong now.

Have a happy weekend!

Extremely Frilled

I've been lusting over a flute skirt for a while now and I happened to stumble upon someone on Instagram wearing this amazing white textured flute skirt. All I know is that it was from ASOS, however, my attempt at trying to search for it failed.

With growing frustration, I rummaged through my materials, found this textured white fabric that I hoarded a while back and managed to also find a white zipper, it was my lucky day! A few google searches on how to emulate the best pattern for the half circle frill part of the skirt, and I was off.

After I made the skirt, someone had kindly pointed out to me what the name of the skirt was, and it was on the ASOS site the whole time, but luckily not in the white, which is what I was after. Saved myself $65 and taught myself how to make the flute/half circle frill. The top half of the skirt was easy enough as I'd learnt to make the pencil skirt pattern a few months back.

I'm pretty happy with the result and I think I will make it in a nice pop of pink or printed fabric in the near future.

What do you think of the flute skirts?

There's definitely a girlier side of me trying to come out lately.

Watercolours

I've had this ASOS dress for well over a year now. I went through a stage where I would trawl the sale section in ASOS, click on the "Lowest Price First" dropdown and just go through pages and pages of sale items. This dress was one of 4 I bought that night and I swear to you I did not spend anymore that $80 AUD.

I'd tried it on about 2-3 times convincing myself I didn't really like it that much. It has been hanging in the spare room wardrobe still with its tags on until the day before the wedding. I had envisioned wearing a black playsuit, but found it just didn't fit right and the fact that playsuits are not very bathroom friendly. That did not sit well with me considering I have a pea-sized bladder.

So in a mad panic I tried to make this dress work and it turns out I actually love it. The vibrant colours and the cut was just a little more flattering on my not-so-flattering figure. I wanted the colours on the dress stand out and just paired it with nude shoes and clutch.

Hope you all had or are having a lovely weekend!

Painted

This is my ideal take on the denim on denim phenomena, clear distinctions on both items of denim.

While denim on denim can look nice on some, I think it looks a little harsh and overwhelming on me. How awesome are these One Teaspoon Poison Outlaw shorts? These shorts are meant to be quite long but I've folded them up for a different look. I just love the colour on them making them perfect for the coming warmer months. Not to mention they're so baggy, airy and comfortable!

Excuse the Paddle Pop Lion hair, this gale force winds we've been experiencing decided it would re-style my hair for me.

Trucker

Ok I have an unhealthy obsession with extremely distressed denim. The brand One Teaspoon has excited me with their denim since they came out with the extremely low-rise distressed denim skirts with lace/broderie anglais detailing acting as sort of like a petticoat. As an 18yr old back then, it was the one thing I coveted but could never afford. I remember each time my mum took me to our local mall, I'd always asked if we could stop by General Pants just so I could see them and touch them. I never ended up getting one, but the frugal fiend inside me had bought a similar looking denim skirt and went to the local fabric store and attached lace to my denim skirts. It was the closest thing I would have ever come to owning one.

To this day, One Teaspoon is still as amazing as ever and possibly excites me more than it ever did. No one beats their distressed and edgy denim at such affordable price points. With non-chalant fashion trends these days, you can see the most trashed denim get paired with heels for a semi-dressed up look. All I know is that I'm on board!

Any Tom, Dick, Jane and Sarah can get dolled up and put on their best LBD and heels, but what really excites me is when I see someone in an ensemble that makes you re-think how you can wear a specific item in your wardrobe. Alexander Wang put it best when he was quoted saying "Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous, but it is how people dress in their days off that are most intriguing".

I could not agree more!
